How do I tell what year my Yamaha outboard is by the serial number?
Yamaha changed the way they identify the manufacture year of their engines starting in 2005. On these engines a separate stamp with the “MFG Date” is located on the transom bracket. This stamp simply states the month and year that the engine was manufactured.
How do you read a Suzuki outboard serial number?
The serial number is printed on a plate that is attached to the clamp bracket on the motor. The form of the serial number is a five-digit number followed by a hyphen, then a six-digit number. On the 1977 through 1979 models, the part after the hyphen starts with a letter, followed by five numbers.
Is my Mercury engine SmartCraft compatible?
The SmartCraft line of products are applicable to all Mercury/Mariner OptiMax outboard engines starting with Model 2000, and all MerCruiser 8.1 liter engines for Model Year 2001. The SmartCraft line of products will not retrofit to any previous Mercury/Mariner or MerCruiser engines.
How do I find out what year my boat motor is?
Go to the motor and look on the motor’s swivel bracket for an embossed, metalized tag or plate that has the name of the motor’s manufacturer boldly stamped at its top. This manufacturer’s tag also shows the year the motor was built, or the model year on all motors except Honda.
